Ayurveda & Wellness

Ayurveda and wellness — the Indian systems, described accurately

What these systems claim, in their own terms, and where the evidence stands separately from that.

2 pages

Two failure modes surround this subject. One treats Ayurveda as folklore with essential oils attached; the other treats it as a complete medical system whose claims need no examination. Both are useless to a reader trying to understand what their grandmother meant.

These pages describe the classical system on its own terms — what the texts say, what the categories mean, how a practitioner reasons — and keep the question of clinical evidence separate and explicit. Where a claim has been tested, the page says what was found. Where it has not, it says that instead.

Questions people ask

Does this site make health claims for Ayurveda?

No. These pages describe the system's own concepts and history, and state separately what clinical evidence exists. Nothing here is medical advice, and no page tells a reader to treat a condition in a particular way.

Why is yoga philosophy in a different section?

Because the Yoga Sūtras are a philosophical text and the eight limbs are mostly not about the body. The philosophy sits under spirituality; the physical practice, breath and diet sit here.
